Supporting Former Foster Youth
Through Mentorship and Financial Aid

Foster Your Future invests in the futures of young people with a history in foster care by connecting them to caring adults and providing strategic financial support and donations.
Meaningful connection with committed adults is fundamental to our efforts to help former foster youth open doors to a brighter future. Structured mentorships ensure each young person receives dedicated attention, guidance and encouragement while working towards their personal and professional goals. Mentors also serve as friends and coaches, encouraging self-discovery and helping unlock their inner potential during this unique stage of life.

Varying levels of sustained financial support is a key component of the Foster Your Future approach to putting young people on the road to long-term stability and success. Financial knowledge, while necessary for optimal financial choices and behaviors, is insufficient by itself to help low-income and low-wealth individuals move beyond paycheck-to-paycheck living and absorb financial shocks and missteps. That is why Foster Your Future combines financial education, budget development, monthly spending and budget monitoring with access to regular financial incentives for demonstrating good money management that can be applied to basic needs, emergencies or savings.

Education

We help young people overcome common barriers to completing a post-secondary education like unstable housing, balancing full-time work with school and lack of emotional support and encouragement so they can stay focused on their education and graduate.

Career Pathways

We support former foster care youth in identifying and accessing a career pathway to help overcome skills deficits that result in minimal opportunities for advancement and low paying wages that make them vulnerable to poverty and threaten their chance to live independently.

Financial Capability

We help former foster care youth gain control of their finances so that they can stop living paycheck-to-paycheck and use their resources strategically to achieve financial goals.

Life Skills

We provide former foster care youth with opportunities to learn from experienced individuals, gain guidance on navigating challenges, practice communication and problem-solving skills, and build confidence through feedback and encouragement leading to personal and professional growth.

Housing Stability

We help former foster care youth achieve long-term stable housing over time, supporting some at times of crisis by linking them to community resources and ensuring others maintain safe, decent housing by providing necessary financial support for basic expenses to those exhibiting smart money management.

Basic Needs

We provide occasional support with food, clothing, transportation, communications, household items and other necessities to help participants get through unplanned events like illness and loss of work.

Health & Wellness

We help former foster care youth to live healthy and well by ensuring their uncovered healthcare needs such as dental and vision care are met and by encouraging them to seek out and participate in activities that support their physical and emotional well-being.

Social Connections

We encourage the development of healthy relationships by connecting young people to caring adults that serve as mentors, coaches and trusted advisors in all areas of life, as well as provide emotional support through efforts to repair or let go of unhealthy past connections that hinder progress towards an independent and happy future.
